Rosemary Murphy

Rosemary is an old friend of Reach and a great cheerleader for our approach, having experienced it, many years ago, first hand.

She is well-qualified in the field of counselling and psychotherapy and brings a wealth of experience from numerous arenas of life – all of which means she is comfortably able to meet clients where they are, regardless of their cultural backgrounds, race, gender and whatever issues they are faced with.

Rosemary is a very warm, empathic and sensitive person and is passionate about helping those in greatest need.  Her conscientious and compassionate approach to her work means she is able to help clients in difficult and challenging circumstances find constructive and creative solutions.

So, we highly commend her to you…

Let’s hear what Rosemary has to say:

I have been a practising counsellor for over 20 years and my connection and journey with Reach began firstly as a client myself and has continued as a supervisee and as an associate. As I am committed to developing my skills and personal awareness I receive regular training in the Reach Approach.

Having experienced the Reach Approach as a client, which for me has been transformative and continues to be life changing, I wanted to share it with others to enable them to achieve a life of peace, happiness and fulfilment.

In my previous career as a primary school teacher I learned the importance of good communication; not only for the academic benefits of the children, but also in a pastoral context, supporting and enhancing the welfare of the young people in my care and also their families. This led me to become a volunteer with a bereavement counselling service.  There I was encouraged to train as a counsellor and went on, once qualified, to help train, supervise and manage a team of counsellors in the service.

From there I worked as a counsellor and supervisor with the Family Bereavement Service at an independent hospice; working with patients and their families both before and after death. I further trained in couple counselling and creative therapies such as Art Therapy, Sand tray Therapy and other creative ways of working, to enable clients to explore their issues.

For the last 18 years I have worked in private practice as an associate of Reach and I continue to be humbled and inspired by the journeys of my clients and their willingness to place their trust in me, enabling them to find empowerment through their life changes.

My counselling approach is holistic and integrative and I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).  I am based in Solihull, West Midlands and am available for face-to-face and online work.
