ALISON MYTTON – PARTNER

Alison has been connected to Reach in a variety of ways for over 20 years.  She exemplifies all that is good about our model and approach.  Everything we do can be summarised in the simple equation, ‘knowledge plus application equals personal power’ and Alison has not only understood and applied this philosophy to her own life, she has shared this message with many.

We invited Alison to be a partner in Reach because of her intelligence, integrity, passion and her warm and generous nature. This is a role she was in so many ways already playing because of her close involvement with the Director and Assistant Director, both of whom have long held her in high esteem.  In addition, she has demonstrated a loyalty and commitment to Reach’s approach and philosophy which is second to none and as a result she will be playing a pivotal role in our training programme going forward.  We are proud to have her on board…

Here’s what Alison has to say…

I have been a practising counsellor/psychotherapist for 20 years, and during that time I have been connected with the work of Reach, either as a client myself, a supervisee, trainee, or associate. Having experienced personal therapy through the Reach Approach, I know first-hand the transformative power of a model that not only works but keeps on working. It is my belief that everyone can achieve a life of peace, happiness and fulfilment and this drives me to reach out to those who are experiencing problems.

In my previous career as a Personnel Manager, I learned the importance of good communication and valuing people. I also became aware that many people struggled with difficulties, both personal and professional. I wanted to develop skills to enable me to help people more effectively and this led to my interest in training as a counsellor. Having qualified, I became a co-ordinator for a bereavement counselling service. In this role I helped train, supervise and manage a team of counsellors. I also had my own caseload and worked with adults and children, both individually and in groups.

For the last 8 years I have worked in private practice as an associate of Reach and am delighted to join them now as a Partner. I am forever inspired by the journeys my clients take and their willingness to take a leap of faith into the unknown and emerge feeling empowered and positive.

I have a degree in Psychology, a Diploma in Counselling and a Postgraduate Diploma in Holistic and Integrative Psychotherapy. In addition, I am an Accredited member of BACP and an experienced Supervisor, having a long history of collaborative working with counselling organisations and individual and trainee counsellors.
