Liz Lee - Pilates, Yoga and Sports Massage

Elizabeth Lee (Liz) is a longstanding friend of Reach.  She became known to us initially through the power of recommendation and is very well respected as a Pilates instructor, Sports Masseuse, and most recently a Yoga teacher.

Liz is highly intelligent, warm, empathic and friendly, with a lovely sense of humour.  Her excellent communication skills make her a joy to work with and over the last dozen years and more this is the message that has reverberated back to us through numerous clients/organizations.  And so, for those of you looking to get your bodies back into shape with someone who not only knows what they are doing but will leave a memorable impression on you, you need look no further.

Liz's Pilates classes are small intimate affairs that are well attended.  She focuses much more on ensuring her students are getting the exercises right than simply going through the motions... which is why she's developed a loyal following.  The same has rapidly become true for her Yoga groups - which develop the mind as well as the body.  Her massages are comprehensive and effective - once experienced, never forgotten.  So we unreservedly recommend her to you!

This is what Liz has to say:

I have always been involved in sport, playing hockey for my school and university and then for Lichfield ladies.

After having my family, four children in six years, I took up aerobics and jogging to regain my fitness. I decided to train as an aerobics instructor and on qualifying taught part time at the Alexander Stadium. My running meant I spent more time with athletes and I became interested in massage and remedial treatment. That led to my studying in London at the London School of Sports Massage (LSSM) where I gained a level five diploma in Remedial Sports Massage Therapy. A chance meeting at the opening of an art gallery led to me being invited to go to Limerick to work with Gerard Hartman who, at the time, was the personal massage therapist to Paula Radcliffe.

At about this time I had become involved in triathlon and I discovered Pilates. I was working as a sports therapist at Birmingham Royal Ballet and saw the dancers doing a Pilates class every morning. I found it helped enormously with my core strength and the stamina required for the three events in triathlon. I decided to train as a Pilates instructor with Cheryl Baker, whom I knew from my aerobics teaching. She developed the Modern Pilates course with the help of Michael King from the Pineapple Studios.

I qualified to teach Pilates in 2003 and teach classes in Sutton Coldfield and Kings Heath. I have also given Pilates presentations for athletes at training camps in Portugal.

After practicing Yoga for many years I have now qualified as a Yoga teacher. I have qualified with Zenways Yoga (Yoga Alliance 200hrs) and with the British School of Yoga (Hatha Yoga). I am also currently training as a teacher of Yoga Nidra with the Yoga Nidra Network.

My philosophy is; life is for living and growing old is a privilege.
