ALICE WALKER

Alice Walker is famous for having won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction, for her work The Colour Purple. She was the first black woman to do so. She has gone on to receive many awards and honours in recognition of her literary contribution. She’s also renowned for her anti-racist and anti-war campaigns.

She was initially inspired in this direction by her meeting with Martin Luther King in the early 1960s. Much of her work and ideology focuses on peace and personal responsibility.

Like Gandhi Alice Miller believes that we need to be the change we want to see in the world! Like many in the personal development movement, she has come to see meditation and silent reflection as an important piece of this jigsaw if we are to reclaim peace, happiness and balance in our lives…
