SIDDHARTHA MUKHERJEE – THE CELLULAR APPROACH

Siddhartha Mukherjee, has an impressive set of credentials having studied as a biology major at Stanford University – working in Nobel Laureate Paul Berg’s laboratory defining cellular genes that change the behaviours of cancer cells.   He then won a scholarship to Oxford University, where he earned a D.Phil. in immunology from Magdalen College.  After graduation, he attended Harvard Medical School, where he became a Doctor of Medicine.  His postgraduate years consisted of further study and research in internal medicine and oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Siddhartha Mukherjee is also a world renowned author.  His book ‘The Emperor of all Maladies: a biography of cancer’, has won numerous prizes and has been described as an “extraordinary achievement” – demonstrating not only his understanding and command of the subject, through his groundbreaking research, but also demonstrating his profound compassion for cancer patients and their families. The book highlights the epic battles that are taking place to control, cure and conquer cancer and is a ‘must read’, not only for those suffering with cancer but also those who are treating them.

In this fascinating talk he makes clear that the older model for treating diseases is rapidly becoming obsolete and that if we are to cure cancer and indeed other diseases, then there needs to be a paradigm shift – where we actually work with the body, using her wisdom to help us in that task. In order to achieve this we have to work with the 60 trillion cells that make up the body, because they have much teach us.

Those of you familiar with our approach will realize we have been talking about synergy for many years and we believe this development in cellular medicine is another step in the right direction.  Take a look and see for yourself…
