Miracles Are Made
Below are brief bios of the senior management team. Between us we have over 100 years experience, working across the spectrum of psychological and emotional issues. In addition, we’ve worked and continue to work extensively with the mind-body interface, researching and examining the impact of both physical and psychological issues on the individual’s life. We have literally tens of thousands of hours of client experience – working with individuals, couples, families and groups, from all cultures and backgrounds.
Our philosophy is built around the notion that you cannot fully fix the mind without fixing the body or completely fix the body without fixing the mind.
As a result of our unique model and approach, we work with those suffering with both chronic psychological and physiological issues. This is why we offer a model that integrates the best of the ancient principles of philosophy, medicine, health and healing, with modern psychology and the latest scientific developments. We know what we do works because we have an enormous database of clients who bear testimony to our methods and approach. We’ve often succeeded where nothing else has worked, as many of our clients have come to our door only as a last resort.
We don’t make false promises. We tell every client from the beginning that we can only help them if they are prepared to do the ‘work’. What we do promise is the support, strategies and resources they need for positive change. We can’t take responsibility for their healing or personal transformation, that’s the bit they must do for themselves…. only then does the miraculous happen.
We believe miracles are made… and here is the formula: knowledge + application = personal power.
Easton Hamilton – Director
Easton Hamilton is a senior accredited psychotherapist, clinical hypnotherapist, accredited supervisor, nutritionist and holistic practitioner. He’s been involved in the field of mental health for over 35 years and is the founder and director of The Reach Approach – which offers an holistic model, specialising in health solutions for mind, body and spirit.
For the last 30 years Easton has been building a new and original approach to personal development, based on a combination of research and clinical practice. This work has been carried out through our counselling and psychotherapy network (Reach), which is UK wide and has numerous overseas initiatives.
The philosophy that has emerged from this work has created a way of working that has become known as ‘The Reach Approach’, which marries together some of the key healing modalities of the past with the latest scientific discoveries. Easton believes passionately that a ‘one-pronged’ approach to human health, mental or physical, simply doesn’t work and as a result, we’re only ever treating the symptoms and never truly addressing the causes. He argues that if we are treating the human condition, we must meet the needs of the three main aspects, mind, body and spirit and address how these then interface with their environment.
Easton has written hundreds of articles and is the primary author of the Reach library of materials. He is the voice behind most of our guided meditations and oversees all of Reach’s numerous activities including: therapeutic practice, supervision, training, research and our many external initiatives. He is also the author of three books, which cover topics such as: science, history, psychology, philosophy and spirituality – and how they relate to the human condition.
His latest book Synergy: the cure for all ills, released in 2014, is the only publication where all of the seminal principles of The Reach Approach can be found in one place. It has already had extensive success in numerous countries and is a valuable handbook for those looking for a truly holistic and integrative approach to human health.
Jo Kilburn – Assistant Director
Jo Kilburn is a senior accredited psychotherapist (BACP, NCP). She has a degree in psychology, has diplomas in therapeutic counselling, clinical hypnotherapy and natural nutrition. She is also a qualified and accredited supervisor.
Jo has 25 years experience in the field of mental health, working with a wide range of individuals and issues including: addiction, anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, panic, phobias, eating disorders as well as the more serious mental health conditions such as bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.
Jo has been assistant director of Reach since 1995 and has special responsibility for training. She coordinates our successful Reach Associate Programme (RAP), which has extended The Reach Approach overseas. We have a number of associates training in: the US (New York, Utah, Texas), Brazil, Rwanda, The Netherlands, New Zealand and other projects/developments in Cyprus, Germany, France, Switzerland and Portugal.
Jo has been extensively involved in the development and production of the wide range of written and audio-visual resources we offer and in addition, she has had a lead role in the many research projects that Reach has and continues to be involved in.
Jo is passionate about all aspects of mental health and personal development, and has spent most of her adult life helping those who have lost hope, to find faith in themselves. She has experienced just about every role on her own journey, from client to volunteer, to qualified professional to being part of this innovative and unique organisation.
Elaine Jackson – Senior Partner
Elaine has been an integral member of Reach for over 20 years. From the very beginning she has passionately championed our holistic and integrative approach.
Her first career as a dental hygienist taught her the value of listening and communicating with sensitivity and empathy. During her role as tutor at Birmingham Dental Hospital she gained a teaching qualification which further enhanced her communication skills. Part of her role was the welfare of students and with this in mind she embarked on a series of counselling and psychotherapy courses that were to change her own direction in life.
Elaine has had experience working with cancer patients in the Head and Neck Unit of the Queen Elizabeth hospital, both at the time of diagnosis and through all stages of treatment and recovery. As a result she has developed a particular interest in this area and working with those who are challenged by other chronic health conditions. She also has extensive experience of working with couples and relationship issues.
Elaine has taken the Reach journey herself, and therefore deeply understands the importance of personal development. She has learned that the more work you have done on yourself, the more you are able to help others fulfill their potential and purpose.
Now, as an accredited psychotherapist (BACP), supervisor and hypnotherapist (NCP) with 30 years experience, she has worked with a wide variety of clients with complex issues, helping them to find sustainable solutions for what ails them. Elaine feels passionately that each person walking through her door is worthy of respect because it takes great courage to face one’s issues and oneself. She believes it is a huge privilege to be supporting people on their unique journeys.
Elaine has had a lead role in a number of our innovative projects, which have led to our national and international expansion. She is also a senior trainer for our Reach Associate Programme (RAP).
Judith Madeley – Senior Partner
Judith has been a partner and now senior partner with Reach for over 15 years. Prior to that she had taken the journey of self-discovery and self-healing for herself with The Reach Approach and because of that life-changing experience, she fell in love with the methodology and philosophy and expressed a passion to add this way of working to her own initial training, so that she might be a catalyst for change for those seeking their own personal transformation.
Before working with Reach she worked with those with addictions, the bereaved and the homeless, whilst attached to various agencies and hospices – all of which enriched her experience and understanding of the complex challenges that clients face.
Judith is a highly skilled and knowledgeable practitioner. She is an accredited member of the BACP, a qualified and accredited supervisor and hypnotherapist (NCP) and has studied nutrition with the Open University. Her experience includes working with couples, children, adolescents, adults and families from a variety of social and cultural backgrounds. She has been a clinical supervisor to individuals and groups in different settings for over 10 years.
As one of the most valuable members of the team, Judith is a senior trainer for the Reach Associate Programme. She has been the lead partner in the development of a number of our unique projects, such as our app Happy Hints, and has been pivotal in establishing a variety of our key policies.
In her own words, she says:
“The sense of privilege when working with my amazing clients never fades. Their courage, trust and openness are inspirational to me and over 15 years later I continue to feel excited and moved by the changes I witness and how The Reach Approach process enables and empowers those who take this path.”
So if you are looking for positive change and what we offer feels right for you, we hope you will find the courage to take this journey…
