Ruth Woodley – Partner

Ruth is a very valuable member of our team.  From the first point of contact until now she has been passionate, committed and a wonderful advocate for our message.  We invited Ruth to become a partner quite simply because she walks the talk.  Her honesty and willingness to face her own ambivalences make her a wonderful ally for anyone who wants to take this journey.  She is thoughtful, warm, intelligent and focused – working extremely hard in the best interests of her clients.

Ruth is one of only four therapists to have achieved 10 distinctions on our Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma (accredited by NCP and CMA) which is why we invited her to be a trainer on our courses.  Ruth oversees the development of Reach’s activities in Devon and Cornwall and is based in Pillaton in South East Cornwall.

About Ruth, in her own words…

Because of Reach’s wonderful holistic model, I am proud to be a Partner. I am a Registered Counsellor, Psychotherapist, Coach, Supervisor and Trainer. With 38 years’ experience in general and mental health nursing, health and social care roles in the public, private and voluntary sectors, including counselling, psychotherapy, supervision, weight management, training, coaching, business, management and leadership positions, my passion for life drives everything I do.

As a Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, I have the following qualifications – Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling (BACP accredited course, Iron Mill College, Exeter); Certificate in Holistic and Integrative Psychotherapy (NCP accredited course, The Reach Approach); Certificate in Couples and Relationship Counselling (Exeter & East Devon Counselling Training); Master of Business Administration (Plymouth University); First Class BSc (Honours) in Health Studies (Nursing), including communication, counselling & supervision skills & health education (Plymouth University); Diploma in Nursing Studies (Plymouth University); 1st level general and mental health nurse (The Royal London Hospital).

In my 20’s I rowed internationally for Great Britain during the 1980’s, competing in world championships and in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games, which has led to increasing my interest in sport, coaching and mindfulness and demonstrates my ability to commit to a high ideal.

When I first came across The Reach Approach (via a workshop which blew me away), I found the mind-body-spirit-environment connection compelling and knew then that I wanted to work with Reach. So I completed the group work and took my own personal journey with Reach, which has been life-changing. I’ve subsequently qualified as a Counsellor, Psychotherapist & Coach and have trained and continue to train with Reach. My fascinating journey is on-going and I feel honoured to be part of this unique organisation, helping others to fulfil their potential and purpose.
