CBT and Support Groups

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, or CBT, is the therapeutic approach used to explore the way you think and feel about yourself and the world and the way you behave as a consequence. It can help you to find coping strategies and solutions to a wide range of issues and situations. CBT undertaken in individual therapy or in support groups can really help guide your future down the path of your choice, creating a life in which you understand how your thoughts and feelings affect the way you behave and learn how to manage them and generate better outcomes for yourself and your life. This then also impacts on improving your self-esteem, improving your self-image through the management of your thoughts and behaviour patterns.

CBT usually works best as part of a broader therapeutic strategy to improve how you relate to yourself and the world. However, CBT itself can be very effective at dealing with 'here and now' issues, managing stress responses, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder and anger etc.
